I grew up in Vietnam and am currently based in Hanoi. After graduating with a degree in Hotel Management, I started my career in the industry in a large hotel in Ho-Chi-Minh-City. After a while, I realized that my real passion lies in sharing my knowledge about our culture, cuisine and communication with other travelers. I’m living my dream job now, being able to share our unique culture with the world.

Our tour operator is headquartered in Vietnam but we have operations all over Southeast Asia with our own offices. To bundle communications, we have our local expert based in Vietnam, handling all local communications with the regional offices to provide you with your multi-country or single-country itineraries. This way we ensure you receive excellent service but with real-time local information directly from the regional offices. Having grown up in South Africa exploring the wildlife, mountains and coast, I was inspired to travel and from a young age, became fascinated with South-East Asia. After numerous trips, I made my passion my profession and now 14 years later I am still working for a local Travel company in Southeast Asia and can’t imagine a better place for me. Felt safe and comfortable throughout. Local guide Samnop, at Siem Reap was awesome. Over all a great experience. Thanks to this brilliant team.

Thailand

My husband and I always dreamt about a trip to Thailand and Rough Guides helped us putting together a perfect holidays. I messaged them with all things we would like to do - from yoga to scuba diving, temples, food, elephants, chat with monks! We had all mixed up and a personal trip advisor was so patient and knowledgeable and designed a total tailored private program for us. We went to Bangkok (Capella hotel), Chiang Mai (137 Pillars) and finally to Phuket (Rosewood). I just confess that we were a bit skeptical to pay all hotels and domestic flights directly to RGuides but everything went absolutely smooth. The local guides were so helpful - I guess that’s Thai hospitality anyway. We have packed the days too much with pre planned activities though. We ended up dropping one of the them (excursion to one of the islands near Phuket) so we could enjoy the hotel. We downloaded an app called grab a taxi (similar to Uber) and it was super easy to go everywhere with that. We also got a SIM card in the airport when we landed and had connectivity the whole period. I was hot spotting on my husbands phone and the solution worked for both of us. Avoid the temptation to have expensive massage in hotels. Best massage is at the streets! Can’t wait to travel with Rough Guides again :)

Sumatra & Bali

It was a great adventure and we had a lot of fun. The itinerary and locations chosen were great, and we particularly loved the Ecolodge in Bukit Lawang and the Tandjung Sari in Bali. The hike in the jungle was a bit tough for us, and steeper than we expected. But we're both really glad we did it, even though we did shorten it to 1 night.

We spent 10 days in Cambodia and overall I must say it was perfectly organized, the tourist guides were of high quality, they had a thorough knowledget about the places and perfect English. Also prior to my trip the communication with the travelling agent/coordinator was very pleasant and clear. In order to help the agency to improve to be even better partner let me highlight two things. The trip to Great Tonle Sap Lake in February, i.e. dry season is definitely not worth to visit. Everything was muddy, sometimes we were afraid to be stuck in the river that lacked enough water. I am not sure if this trip in rainy season becomes more interesting but I would have skipped this half day trip if I could. Moreover, the tour guide in Angkor Wat was for sure very experienced and had a great English but I am afraid he didn´t even notice that some of my friends didn´t have such a good English and yet he kept talking in a very sophisticated way to them which sometimes was a bit awkward. We felt like on a public historic presentation rather than having a friendly and empathic partner who understand our needs and wishes. The tour guide in Phnom Penh was really good on the other hand. Last but not the least, the selection of the hotels was also optimal, we were very happy. There was a little misunderstanding in Siem Reap where we had to be transferred to a different hotel because of the lack of capacities in the previous one but that was rather a detail. This is my second time and again was really happy, I am sure it is not my last trip!

This is the second time I have used the service to sort out my itinerary. First to Sri Lanka and recently (February 2020) to Vietnam. The itinerary was great and while I was planning it, there was room for change and modification. Nothing was a problem. I would recommend them to people who have no real idea of the country they are visiting and need some guidance. There was always an alternative or other options so one didn't feel you were just given an itinerary that wasn't flexible. The guides we had were all excellent. Good job. Planning Chile for 2021 now! Thank you.

Our family thanks you so much for organizing such an amazing trip for my son and I, in a short couple of weeks before the holidays. The entire trip was meticulously planned, all with only a few tidbits of information in interests and needs. We had continuous contact and people checking in on our well being and satisfaction with itinerary. Each and every guide and driver along the way were friendly, gracious, knowledgable, kind, well organized and had a great sense of humor! We could not have asked for a better adventure!
